DAY 1

Depart USA

Depart to Rome

Today we board our flights to Rome with beverages and snacks served aloft.

DAY 2

Arrival in Rome

Arrival in Rome, Basilica of St. Paul

Welcome to Rome, also known as, “The Eternal City.” Upon arrival at Rome airport, collect our luggage in the baggage claim area and continue to the Arrivals Hall, where we will be greeted by our tour manager. We will make our way to the bus and drive to the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls to celebrate Mass.

DAY 3

Vatican City

Papal Audience, Major Basilicas

Transfer to the Vatican City to join pilgrims from around the world for an audience with His Holiness the Pope (subject to the Holy Father’s schedule and health). In the afternoon we continue our guided tour to visit the Major Basilicas. The ceiling of the Basilica of St. Mary Major is said to be decorated with gold that Columbus brought back from the new world. This basilica, the largest in Rome dedicated to the Blessed Mother, is part of the day’s “Christian Rome” tour, and has beautiful Biblical mosaics, a marble floor, bell tower and one of the oldest shrines (containing a relic from the manger of the infant Jesus) dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. We will also visit the Basilica of St. John Lateran which is the oldest of the major basilicas and ranks first as the actual “parish church” of the Pope (Bishop of Rome). There we will learn about the Scala Santa (Holy Stairs). Tradition has it that these steps, said to be the staircase leading once to the praetorium of Pilate at Jerusalem, are sanctified by the footsteps of Jesus Christ during his Passion.

DAY 4

Assisi

Basilica of St. Francis, St. Clare, and Bl. Carlo Acutis

Today we depart Rome and drive through the beautiful Umbrian countryside to Assisi, the hometown of St. Francis and St. Clare. Upon arrival, we will visit the Basilica of St. Francis, including Giotto’s stunning frescoes and the saint’s tomb. We continue to the Basilica of St. Clare, followed by a visit to the Church of San Damiano, where St. Francis received his call to rebuild the Church. Finally, we visit the Sanctuary of the Renunciation, where Blessed Carlo Acutis is buried, and venerate his tomb.

DAY 5

Return to Rome

St. Peter’s Basilica

This morning we depart Assisi and return to Rome. Upon arrival, we transfer to St. Peter’s Basilica where we celebrate Mass and tour the Basilica before we have the remainder of the day free.

DAY 6

Flight to Portugal

Transfer to Fatima

Today we transfer to the airport for our flight to Lisbon. Upon arrival, we are met by our local escort and continue directly to Fatima, where Our Blessed Mother appeared to three shepherd children in 1917. Settle into our hotel and enjoy a peaceful evening in this holy place.

DAY 7

Fatima

Sanctuary & Chapel of Apparitions

Today we visit the sanctuary and Chapel of Apparitions, the heart of the message of Fatima. We visit the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, containing the tombs of Saints Francisco and Jacinta Marto and Sister Lucia, as well as the Basilica of the Holy Trinity. There will be time for prayer, reflection, and personal devotion.

DAY 8

Lisbon

Fatima , Sanctuary, Chapel of Apparitions

DAY 9

Depart Portugal

Return Home

Today we bid Portugal farewell and board our return flights home, carrying with us memories and graces from our time together on pilgrimage.
