DAY 1
Depart USA
Your pilgrimage begins today as you depart on your flight to Barcelona.
DAY 2
Arrive Barcelona
Upon arrival in Barcelona, we are greeted by our Holy Land Travel Center Representative and transfer into the capital of Catalonia and transfer to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3
Barcelona
This morning we will visit La Sagrada Familia Basilica designed by architect Antoni Gaudi. We enjoy a full guided tour of the Basilica before we celebrate Mass. We will then continue to Park Guell before we return to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 4
Barcelona
Today we tour Sacred Heart Minor Basilica located on top of Mount Tibidabo before celebrating Mass. We then have the afternoon free in Las Ramblas.
DAY 5
Montserrat
This morning we will travel outside of Barcelona for a full day visit to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Montserrat, the spiritual heart of Catalonia and home to a Benedictine monastery. For 700 years this Marian Shrine has attracted thousands of pilgrims from around the world. St. Ignatius of Loyola prayed in front of this same image of Our Lady of Monserrate around 1522.
DAY 6
Lourdes
This morning we will travel to Lourdes stopping for lunch along the way. Upon arrival we will check into our hotel. Our hotel is close enough that you will be able to walk to the Lourdes Grotto at night if you so choose.
DAY 7
Lourdes
This day we start with Mass at the Grotto of Massabielle, where Our Lady appeared to Bernadette in 1858; followed by our guided tour of Lourdes. The sanctuary of the Basilica of St. Pius X, the world’s largest underground church. Since the pandemic, full immersion at the baths is no longer allowed, but you can participate in a water blessing if you choose.
DAY 8
Depart Lourdes
This morning we depart Lourdes and traverse the Pyrenees southward entering northern Spain. We travel eastward to Zaragoza, the capital of Aragon. On arrival, we tour the city which was founded by the Romans. We break for lunch on our own before continuing our tour. This city was also the birthplace of Goya, whose works grace many of the sites we visit. The Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar commemorates the apparitions of Our Lady to St. James the Apostle in the year 40AD. If possible, we celebrate Mass there. Dinner and overnight at our hotel.
DAY 9
Zaragoza
Today we depart Zaragoza on our way to Burgos. En route, we stop at the 17th Century Sanctuary of Loyola. This architectural complex is formed by the tower-house of the Loyola family, which was the birthplace of San Ignacio de Loyola, founder of the Jesuit Religious Order. We will celebrate Mass in the chapel of the Loyola Family home. Once we arrive in Burgos we will check in to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 10
Burgos
Today we visit the Cathedral of Saint Mary of Burgos, located in the historic city of Burgos, Spain. This Cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a symbol of Spain’s cultural and religious heritage, and dedication to Our Lady. We will have time for lunch on our own; then head to Santiago de Compostela for dinner and overnight.
DAY 11
Santiago De Compostela
This morning we begin our visit of Santiago de Compostela, one of the most famous shrines in the world, where the tomb of St. James the Apostle (brother of St. John the Apostle) was discovered. As pilgrims, we can climb the stairs behind the high altar to visit the crypt where the relics of St. James are preserved, touch the central pillar (Portico de La Gloria), view the botafumeiro (large censer) and admire the wealth of medieval art inside the Cathedral. We have a free afternoon to enjoy a long lunch or walk around the historic city. Return to our hotel for dinner and overnight in Santiago de Compostela.
DAY 12
Santiago De Compostela
Today we depart Santiago de Compostela and continue to Porto where we visit the Church of St. Francis. After lunch in Porto, we drive to Fatima for dinner and overnight. Our hotel will be close enough to the Chapel of Apparitions that you can walk there after dinner if so choose.
DAY 13
Fatima
This morning we visit Fatima, where in 1917 Our Blessed Mother visited three shepherd children, Lucia Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto. We will pray at the tombs of now Blessed Lucia, Saint Jacinta, and Saint Francisco. We participate in the Rosary and Candlelight Procession during the evening.
DAY 14
Return Home
Today we bid Portugal farewell and board our flights home, carrying with us memories that will last a lifetime.
