DAY 1
Depart USA
Today we board our flights to Italy with beverages and snacks served aloft.
DAY 2
Arrive Venice
Upon arrival in Venice, we transfer to our hotel near Venice for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3
Venice
After breakfast, we take our private boat to San Marco’s Square and explore Venice, nicknamed “la Serenissima.” We begin with a guided walking tour of St. Mark’s Square, one of the largest open spaces in Venice. We visit two of its landmark buildings, the Basilica of San Marco and the Bridge of Sighs. Afterwards, we transfer to the cruise port to embark on our cruise.
DAY 4
Slovenia
Your journey commences with a visit to the remarkable Predjama Castle, an architectural marvel perched on a 123-meter-high cliff. Spend time exploring its medieval grandeur and learning about the legendary knight Erazem of Predjama. From there, venture to the renowned Postojna Cave, where an exhilarating ride on an electric train transports you into a subterranean wonderland. Marvel at the intricate network of tunnels, passages, and chambers, and encounter the mysterious proteus, also known as the “human fish.” This karst marvel has captivated millions of visitors over the centuries with its awe-inspiring beauty and natural wonders.
DAY 5
Croatia
Experience the unique charm of Zadar, where old-world traditions and modern life harmoniously blend, on this engaging shore excursion. Begin your journey through the picturesque streets of Zadar’s historic center, uncovering its rich Neolithic origins and diverse architectural influences. Marvel at the eclectic mix of restored cafés, bars, museums, and churches. Your walking tour starts in the heart of the magnificent Old Town, featuring a visit to the Cathedral of St. Anastasia, the finest example of Romanesque architecture in Zadar. Pass by the Church of St. Donatus, a remarkable 9th-century structure built on Roman foundations and admire St. Mary’s Church with its 12th-century Romanesque belltower. Conclude your tour with free time to explore further, shop for souvenirs, or relax at a local café, soaking in the delightful ambiance of this Adriatic gem.
DAY 6
Montenegro
Set sail on a captivating boat excursion through the scenic Boka Bay, visiting the historic Our Lady of the Rocks and the enchanting Blue Cave. Cruise along the Verige Straits and the Herceg Novi Riviera, soaking in the picturesque coastal views. Delve into the region’s history as you explore hidden caves once used to conceal submarines. This immersive tour offers a perfect blend of natural beauty and historical intrigue, promising an unforgettable day in the heart of Montenegro.
DAY 7
Croatia
Embark on an enchanting journey along the Bay of Dubrovnik River, passing by Renaissance summer estates and Dubrovnik Old Town. Ascend the slopes of Srdj Mountain for panoramic views extending to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. Continue your exploration in Cavtat, where you’ll enjoy a leisurely stroll and visit Our Lady of the Snow Church, adorned with exquisite Renaissance paintings. Your day concludes with a guided walking tour of Dubrovnik’s Old Town, offering insights into its rich history and iconic landmarks before free time for personal exploration.
DAY 8
Greece
Embark on a journey through Corfu’s enchanting landmarks, colorful villages, and breathtaking vistas. Begin with a visit to the picturesque Paleokastritsa, renowned for its splendid bays and panoramic views. Explore the Monastery of the Virgin, steeped in history and surrounded by serene landscapes. Continue your exploration in the Old Town of Corfu, where you’ll admire the architecture of Byzantine churches, the old fortress, and the lively Esplanade Square. This delightful tour promises a day filled with cultural immersion and scenic beauty.
DAY 9
Santorini
Embark on a memorable half-day shore excursion for cruise ship passengers, starting from Athinios Port in Santorini. Disembark with ease and meet your local guide by the cable car exit in Fira. Begin your journey in Firostefani, marveling at stunning views of the Aegean Sea and the iconic blue dome. Next, visit Oia, famous for its scenic vistas and vibrant market, perfect for photos and souvenirs. Ascend to Prophet Ilias for panoramic views and a visit to the historic monastery (seasonal availability). Continue to Megalochori to admire its traditional architecture, then unwind at Perivolos Beach, known for its unique black sand. End the day with free time to dine and shop for souvenirs, making your Santorini adventure unforgettable.
DAY 10
Mykonos
Discover the enchanting beauty of Mykonos on this captivating half-day shore excursion. Begin your journey by exploring the island’s stunning mountainous landscape, dotted with approximately 400 charming churches. Marvel at the iconic white houses and the famous windmills that define Mykonos’ picturesque scenery. Immerse yourself in the unique blend of Byzantine and Western architecture that gives the island its distinctive character. Visit the Church of Panagia Paraportiani, a striking landmark on the main square, and admire the old Catholic Church nearby. Stroll through the tiny, paved streets lined with vibrant boutiques and inviting taverns, offering an authentic taste of Mykonos’ local culture. Conclude your adventure by returning to the ship, leaving you with unforgettable memories of this idyllic island.
DAY 11
Kusadasi
This morning you will arrive at the Turkish port city of Kusadasi. From here you will travel to Ephesus, where the Blessed Virgin Mary lived with St. John in a small house on the hill behind the city. Here you will have Mass before traveling down to the ancient city where you can walk the marble roads rutted by wheels of countless chariots and pass the ruins of architectural masterpieces. It is here that St. Paul preached to the Ephesians, and where he was arrested and cast out of the city.
DAY 12
Disembark Istanbul
We disembark in Istanbul today and visit the Grand Bazaar. The Grand Bazaar is an amazing place – literally a maze of streets. It is one of the largest undercover bazaars in the world and is even divided into areas like the leather section or the rug section.
DAY 13
Istanbul
This morning we head to the Sultanahmet district. This World Heritage-listed district is crammed with historic buildings and atmosphere to keep you enthralled for days. Full-day visits to the Topkapi Palace; overlooking the Sea of Marmara and containing numerous chambers, courtyards, and royal treasures; the Sultan Ahmed (Blue) Mosque, with its six minarets and thousands of blue tiles; and the historic Hagia Sophia, now a museum, converted to a mosque from a Christian Basilica after the fall of Constantinople in 1453. Next, we see the Hippodrome and the Obelisk brought from Egypt.
DAY 14
Depart to USA
Today we board our return flights home with memories and keepsakes that will last a lifetime.
