Join us on a Pilgrimage to Rome, Padua, Lourdes, & Fatima with Fr. Arokia Dass David!
DAY 1
Depart USA
Our spiritual pilgrimage begins as we board our transatlantic flight to Rome, with meals and beverages served aloft.
DAY 2
Arrive Rome
Welcome to Rome, also known as, “The Eternal City.” Upon arrival at Rome airport, you will collect your luggage in the baggage claim area, where you will be greeted by our Holy Land Travel Center Representative. Make your way to the bus and transfer the Basilica of San Paul Outside the Walls where we will visit our first Major Basilica and visit the First Holy Door of our Jubilee Year Pilgrimage. We will have Mass here and tour the Basilica before transferring to our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 3
Rome
This morning we attend the Papal Audience in St. Peter’s Square or at the Audience Hall. The Audience is celebrated each Wednesday by His Holiness, Pope Francis (pending the papal schedule). After free time for lunch on our way. In the afternoon, visit the oldest of the four major Basilicas in Rome, the Archbasilica of St. John the Lateran, the cathedral church, and the seat of the Bishop of Rome. Cross the street to the very steps that lead up to the praetorium of Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem which Jesus climbed on His way to trial during his Passion. Holy Mass will be celebrated by our priest at the Basilica of St. Mary Major, dedicated to Our Blessed Mother. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 4
Vatican Museum
This morning we visit the Vatican Museum where you can see the Tapestry Gallery, Raphael Rooms, and Sistine Chapel. We then tour St. Peter’s Basilica, built on the site where St. Peter the Apostle was martyred. We have the opportunity to view Michelangelo’s Pieta sculpture and pray at the tombs of Pope Benedict XVI and St. John Paul II. In the afternoon, take a walking tour to pass by Rome’s greatest sites including the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum and more!
DAY 5
Transfer to Florence
Today we depart Rome and drive to Florence. Upon arrival in Florence we embark on a walking tour of the city. We will explore the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its great representation of Tuscan Gothic Architecture, like the giant dome of the church, designed by Brunelleschi. We will see Giotto’s Bell Tower, a 14th century masterpiece that rises to a height of 292 feet and the Baptistry of San Giovanni, withs East Door which is called the Gates of Paradise. The doors took artist Ghiberti 27 years to complete. Then we will visit Michelangelo’s parish church, Santa Croce, where Dante is buried.
DAY 6
Padua
We depart Florence and continue to Padua, where we will visit the famous Cathedral of St. Anthony, guarded by Donatello’s “Gattamelata”. We will also visit the Basilica of Saint Giustina, the second most important pilgrimage site in Padua after St. Anthony’s. Here, the tomb of Luke the Evangelist is housed.
DAY 7
Fly to Toulouse
Today we take our flights to Toulouse. Upon arrival we transfer to Lourdes and our hotel for dinner and overnight.
DAY 8
Lourdes
This day we start with mass at the Grotto of Massabielle, where Our Lady appeared to Bernadette in 1858. Later we take our official group photo in front of the Basilica, followed by a guided tour of Lourdes. We will visit the Sanctuary of the Basilica of St. Pius X, the world’s largest underground church, The Baths, where thousands of miraculous cures have taken place and the most respected shrine and sanctuary in France. In the evening, we join the candlelight processional.
DAY 9
Free Day in Lourdes
We have the day free in Lourdes to visit the Baths and for prayers and meditations.
DAY 10
Flights to Fatima
Today we take our flights to Lisbon and upon arrival continue to Fatima. We will check in and have dinner before we join the candlelight procession in the evening, time permitting.
DAY 11
Fatima
Today, our morning is devoted to visiting the Basilica and Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima, and the birthplaces of Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia to whom the Virgin appeared for the first time on May 13th, 1917. As the day unfolds, we’ll soak in the atmosphere of reverence and devotion before retiring to our hotel for a delightful dinner and a restful overnight stay.
DAY 12
Free Day in Fatima
We have the day free in Fatima for prayers and meditations.
DAY 13
Return Home
Today we board our return flights home with memories and keepsakes that will last a lifetime.
