Here, we will have the opportunity to pray at the tomb of St. John Paul II and view Michelangelo’s Pieta sculpture.  Next, we begin our walking tour of Rome where we will view the famous Colosseum’s Exterior – the largest ancient amphitheater in the world and the site of countless gladiator games. DAY 5
Orvieto & Assisi

We depart Rome and drive to Assisi via Orvieto, where we visit the Gothic Cathedral built to house the holy relics of the Eucharistic Miracle of Orvieto. It was this miracle that occasioned the proclamation of the Feast of Corpus Christi and inspired St. Thomas Aquinas to write the famous hymn “Tantum Ergo.” Here we celebrate Mass. We attend a local wine tasting where a light spread will be served. We then transfer to our hotel in Assisi for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Assisi (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 6

We then proceed to the Basilica of St. Clare for a tour. After lunch, we will transfer to the Convent of San Damiano, where St. Francis received his call to rebuild the Church and where St. Clare lived and died. Here we celebrate Mass before returning to Assisi.

Overnight: Assisi (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 7
Assisi to Florence

Today we depart Assisi and drive towards Tuscany to reach Siena.  In Siena we visit the Basilica of San Francesco. Here, 223 Consecrated Hosts have remained intact for 276 years. The permanent miracle of the Sacred Hosts is kept in the Chapel of Piccolimini in the summer months and in the Chapel of Martinozzi in the winter months. We then continue to Florence for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Florence (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 8
Florence

Following breakfast, we head into the Tuscan countryside to explore this region’s rich history and culture. We reach Pisa to visit the leaning tower; it’s pretty Romanesque’s monuments and Cathedral. We return to Florence in the afternoon for more time at leisure in the city. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Florence (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 9
Florence

Today we have a full-day tour of the Renaissance city of Florence. We visit St. Ambrose Church. The reliquaries of two Eucharistic miracles which took place in 1230 and 1595 are held in this Church.  In the miracle of 1230, a distracted priest left several drops of consecrated wine in the chalice after Mass.  The next day, returning to celebrate Mass in the same church, he found in the chalice drops of living Blood coagulated and incarnated.  The blood was immediately placed in a crystal cruet.  The other Eucharistic miracle took place on Good Friday in 1595, when several fragments of the Consecrated Host were miraculously unharmed in a church fire.  Free time during lunch to explore the famous San Lorenzo market. In the afternoon, we will explore the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with its great representation of Tuscan Gothic Architecture, like the giant dome of the church, designed by Brunelleschi. We will see Giotto’s Bell Tower, a 14th century masterpiece that rises to a height of 292 feet and the Baptistry of San Giovanni, with its East Door which is called the Gates of Paradise. The doors took artist Ghiberti 27 years to complete. Then we will visit Michelangelo’s parish church, Santa Croce, where Dante is buried. Here we celebrate Mass before returning to our hotel in Florence for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Florence (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 10
Return Rome

Today we depart Florence to return to Rome. Upon arrival, we will visit our final Major Basilica, San Paul Outside the Walls.  We then have free time before returning to our hotel for dinner and overnight.

Overnight: Rome (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 11
Flights to Medjugorje

We take our flights to Medjugorje. Upon arrival to Dubrovnik (or Split) International Airport, your group will meet with your guide and driver and your pilgrimage journey to Medjugorje begins. After short border formalities, between the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, group will arrive in Medjugorje. Check in to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Overnight: Medjugorje (Dinner)

DAY 12
Medjugorje

After breakfast on your first morning in Medjugorje, your local guide will begin introductions starting with a walk from your hotel to the Church St. James. You will arrive just before your first English language mass at 10:00 am. While in Medjugorje, we will join thousands of pilgrims from all over the world celebrating daily mass at St. James Church, visiting Bijakovici Village, Apparition Hill (also known as Podbrdo, where Our Lady first appeared), and gathering at 6PM each evening together to pray the rosary. All three Mysteries will be prayed during the evening program. Today we will attend Veneration of the Cross which is held on Fridays.  After the Holy Mass, there is the Blessing of the Sick and blessing of any religious items or souvenirs that you have with you. Every pilgrim in Medjugorje will have time for private devotions, shopping, or simply enjoying your own “freedom of prayer.” We will enjoy dinner each night at our hotel.

Overnight: Medjugorje (Breakfast, Dinner)

DAY 13
Medjugorje

Our Lady has always called us to be close to her Son. For this, you will have the opportunity to adore the Blessed Sacrament at the altar outside of St. James Church. Adoration is held on Tuesdays and Saturdays; In the afternoon we transfer to Mt. Krizevac. In 1933, the villagers built a 30 foot high cross atop a mountain to commemorate Jesus’ passion and death on the cross. Your group will have the opportunity to climb this mountain and venerate that very cross. While climbing, your group is invited to pray the Stations of the Cross (to meditate on Jesus’ suffering Road to Calvary), pausing fifteen times for each Station.

Overnight: Medjugorje (Breakfast, Dinner)
