DAY 1
Depart USA
Today we depart on our transatlantic flights to Rome. We enjoy inflight movies and meals aloft.
DAY 2
Arrive Rome
Upon arrival in Rome, we are greeted by our representative and immediately transfer to your hotel in Rome for dinner and overnight. Overnight: Rome (D)
DAY 3
Rome
Our full day tour includes a guided tour of the four major Basilicas, including St. Peter’s Basilica, St. John of Lateran, St. Paul Outside the Walls and St. Mary Major. We also have a three-hour guided tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel, and a visit to the Holy Stairs. Overnight: Rome (B)
DAY 4
Rome
This morning after a very early breakfast we leave to St. Peter’s Square for the Papal Audience. After this we will continue to the cruise ship where we will spend our afternoon before we embark. Overnight: Cruise Ship (B, D)
DAY 5
Florence/Pisa
This morning we discover the wonders of Florence, ‘City of Art.’ We visit the Academy of Fine Arts to view Renaissance masterpieces, including Michelangelo’s ‘David.’ We explore the wonderful Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo), the Baptistry, Piazza della Signoria, and Santa Croce, housing Michelangelo’s tomb. DAY 6
Cannes
First, we head to Monaco and Monte Carlo. By motor coach, you will drive along the famous Formula 1 track. You will visit the Monte Carlo casino and can enjoy an optional walk around the Japanese Garden. There will also be some free time during which you can see the changing of the guard in front of the palace of the Prince, take pictures, or buy souvenirs. Next, we head to Eze. Take a stroll through the old town with your guide. This old village is huddled around a substantial medieval fortress, with rocks and houses of similar hues blending into each other. Afterwards, your guide will take you to the Fragonard perfume factory near the town of Eze. Your guide will then take you to Cannes. We drive along the world-famous Boulevard de la Croisette. The guide will tell you the fascinating story of Cannes and the Lerins Islands which are located offshore. Since 1834, a whole host of famous personalities have helped to establish the city’s reputation. In the past, the aristocracy would spend the winter here. There will also be some free time during which you can see the Film Festival Palace, take pictures of the famous red road or buy souvenirs. The last stop of your trip is the top of Cannes hill near one of the oldest churches, Notre-Dame-de l’Esperance de Cannes where you will be able to take a memorable photo with the view of the entire bay of Cannes. DAY 7
Palma Majora
When your cruise ship docks in Majorca’s captivating capital, gain cultural insight into the picturesque villages of Valldemossa and Palma de Malloca on a private 6-hour shore excursion. Admire spectacular seaside scenery; explore the charming streets of Valldemossa; and gaze at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Sierra de Tamuntana Mountain Range. Absorb panoramic vistas of Palma at the stolid Bellver Castle and see all of the city’s spectacular sights on a guided walking tour, visiting the Cathedral of Santa Maria and the old fish market. We return to our ship this evening for dinner and overnight. Overnight: Cruise Ship (B, D)
DAY 8
Barcelona
This morning we head to the most famous Holy family church, La Sagrada Familia. La Sagrada Familia is an unfinished Catholic basilica in Barcelona designed by the celebrated Art Nouveau architect Antoni Gaudi. We enjoy a full guided tour of the Basilica before we celebrate Mass. We will then journey towards the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for a tour before we head to Park Guell for a guided tour and free time before we return to our cruise ship for dinner and overnight. DAY 10
Naples/Sorrento
Enjoy a very scenic and relaxing excursion, experiencing Italy’s coastline by motor coach and spending time in the beautiful villages of Sorrento and Amalfi. You’ll be driven along a coastal road, winding along breathtaking curves, before arriving in Sorrento perched high above the Bay of Naples. Once you’ve been given a brief orientation of the city and your meeting point and time, enjoy some free time to explore the flower filled main street and the Corso Italia or admire the high-quality handicrafts for which Sorrento is famous. Stop for lunch in Sorrento before you board your motor coach for a drive along the coastline to Amalfi. You’ll see spectacular views of sparkling blue sea, citrus orchards, olive groves and fishing villages nestled in secluded bays en route to one of the most picturesque villages on the Amalfi Coast. Here you’ll also have time to explore on your own. If time permits, you’ll visit a cameo factory nearby to see how the famous jewelry is made and then have some time to browse the store before returning to your ship. Overnight: Cruise ship (B, D)
DAY 11
Rome
Today we will take a tour of the coliseum and trevi fountain in the morning before we enjoy the rest of the day at leisure to explore Rome. Overnight: Rome (B)
