Upon arrival in Rome, we are greeted by our Holy Land Travel Center Representative. We will travel to San Paul Outside the walls, one of Rome’s Four Major Basilica’s before continuing to your hotel in Rome for dinner and overnight. Overnight: Rome (D)
This morning after a very early breakfast we leave to St. Peter’s Square for the Papal Audience. After some free time for lunch, we continue on a short tour to two of the major basilicas. We will visit St. Mary Major and St. John Lateran. Overnight: Rome (B, D)
This morning after breakfast we depart to visit the Sistine Chapel and Museum as well as the last Major Basilica of Rome, St. Peter’s. After a brief tour, we leave Rome to embark on our cruise. Overnight Norwegian Cruise Ship (B, D)
This morning we discover the wonders of Florence, ‘City of Art.’ We visit the Academy of Fine Arts to view Renaissance masterpieces, including Michelangelo’s ‘David.’ We explore the wonderful Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo), the Baptistry, Piazza della Signoria, and Santa Croce, housing Michelangelo’s tomb. First, we head to Monaco and Monte Carlo. By motor coach, you will drive along the famous Formula 1 track. You will visit the Monte Carlo casino and can enjoy an optional walk around the Japanese Garden. There will also be some free time during which you can see the changing of the guard in front of the palace of the Prince, take pictures, or buy souvenirs. Next, we head to Eze. Take a stroll through the old town with your guide. This old village is huddled around a substantial medieval fortress, with rocks and houses of similar hues blending into each other. Afterwards, your guide will take you to the Fragonard perfume factory near the town of Eze. Your guide will then take you to Cannes. We drive along the world-famous Boulevard de la Croisette. The guide will tell you the fascinating story of Cannes and the Lerins Islands which are located offshore. Since 1834, a whole host of famous personalities have helped to establish the city’s reputation. In the past, the aristocracy would spend the winter here. There will also be some free time during which you can see the Film Festival Palace, take pictures of the famous red road or buy souvenirs. The last stop of your trip is the top of Cannes hill near one of the oldest churches, Notre-Dame-de l’Esperance de Cannes where you will be able to take a memorable photo with the view of the entire bay of Cannes. On your visit to Marseille, you’ll see the entrance of the old port guarded by the two fortresses: Saint John and Saint Nicolas. Drive to the Basilica Notre Dame de la Garde for a very interesting visit where you’ll discover the city of Marseille. In Avignon, city of art and culture, the metropolis of the Vaucluse region which spreads along the banks of the Rhone River, see the famous Pont d’Avignon with only four of its arches remaining. Avignon was a small but prosperous town when its destiny changed in the early 14th century with the exiles of the Popes to France, leading to a century of brilliance. It is surrounded by ramparts and dominated by the Doms Rock which is crowned by the magnificent Cathedral and Palace of the Popes. Enjoy some free time for lunch and shopping on your own. This morning we head to the most famous Holy family church, La Sagrada Familia. La Sagrada Familia is an unfinished Catholic basilica in Barcelona designed by the celebrated Art Nouveau architect Antoni Gaudi. We enjoy a full guided tour of the Basilica before we celebrate Mass. We will then journey towards the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for a tour before we head to Park Guell for a guided tour and free time before we return to our cruise ship for dinner and overnight. Explore the city of Valencia, with sights of the City of Arts and Sciences, a panoramic drive and a stroll through the old quarter to visit some of the most important historic buildings. Discover how attractive the combination of ancient remains and modern buildings are. It’s a city with international services and avant-garde design. Stop to see The City of Arts & Science, the New Valencia. This major leisure center was designed to promote science and culture. Marvel at the unique and spectacular design of the Hemisféric and the Museu de les Ciencies. A walk in the historical center takes you to Plaza de la Reina to visit the more significant monuments and buildings like the Cathedral, La Lonja “the Silk Exchange” declared Heritage of Mankind by UNESCO and the Central Market, Valencia’s modernist market. Enjoy the charm of “round square”, discover hidden corners, and walk around the main streets of the city center and Santa Catalina Square where you’ll have some free time to explore. Today we see the sights of Granada and visit its main attraction, the Alhambra. The might yet graceful citadel was planned by the 13th-century Moorish rule Al Ahamar. A fantasy of “lace in stone” surrounded by arabesque gardens and fountains, it affords superb views of the Old Quarter and Sacromonte, a mountain occupied by Gypsy cave dwellers. Also, amble through the magnificent water gardens of the Generalife, the royal summer residence. Free time in afternoon before we return to our ship for dinner and overnight. Today we port in Lisbon and depart for Santarem. Here we will stop for Mass at St. Stephens Church and to venerate the 13th century Eucharistic Miracle. We then continue to Sintra where we will spend our free time in the Old Town Quarter. Sintra is a charming Portuguese town situated within the cooling hills of the Serra de Sintra. Hidden within these pine-covered hills are whimsical places, extravagant villas and the ruins of a Moors castle. We return to port, and along the way we stop for a photo opportunity at Belem Tower, a 16th century fortification built of limestone, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We depart the port city of Vigo to Santiago de Compostela, one of the most important cities in Europe and the third most important int the world for Christian Pilgrimage. Here we will take a quick guided tour before visiting the Cathedral Santiago de Compostela and a little free time before returning to the Ship for our dinner and overnight. Today we disembark our cruise and head to the heart of London where we will take a panoramic tour around London before Mass at the ever-famous Westminster Abbey*. The rest of the afternoon will be at your leisure. Overnight: London (B, D)
