DAY 1
Depart USA
Today we board our flights to London with beverages and snacks served aloft.
DAY 2
Arrive London
Upon arrival in London, we meet with our Holy Land Travel Center Representative and transfer to our hotel for dinner and overnight. Overnight: London (Dinner*)
DAY 3
London / Cruise
After breakfast we will take a panoramic city tour around London before Mass at the ever-famous Westminster Abbey. We then head to our cruise ship and embark. Overnight: Cruise Ship (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 4
Cruise Ship
Today we will have a relaxing day onboard and enjoy the ship’s amenities. Overnight: Cruise Ship (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 5
Oporto
Today we transfer to Porto’s historic quarter where we take a walk through the heart of Oporto where we will see many of the city’s notable landmarks, such as the Porto Cathedral. After our short tour, we will stop at one of the many port wine lodges that Oporto is internationally famous for. After an informative tour of the cellar and be treated to a wine tasting of some of their finest products. Overnight: Cruise Ship (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 6
Lisbon
Today we port in Lisbon and depart for Santarem. Here we will stop for Mass at St. Stephens Church and to venerate the 13th century Eucharistic Miracle. We then continue to Sintra where we will spend our free time in the Old Town Quarter. Sintra is a charming Portuguese town situated within the cooling hills of the Serra de Sintra. Hidden within these pine-covered hills are whimsical places, extravagant villas and the ruins of a Moors castle. We return to port, and along the way we stop for a photo opportunity at Belem Tower, a 16th century fortification built of limestone, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. DAY 7
Cadiz Seville
Today we spend our day in Seville spending time in La Plaza Espana, viewing the Cathedral de Seville and its famous bell tower, the Giralda Spire! In the afternoon we return to our ship for our final evening on the ship. Overnight Cruise Ship (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 8
Granada
Today we see the sights of Granada and visit its main attraction, the Alhambra. The might yet graceful citadel was planned by the 13th-century Moorish rule Al Ahamar. A fantasy of “lace in stone” surrounded by arabesque gardens and fountains, it affords superb views of the Old Quarter and Sacromonte, a mountain occupied by Gypsy cave dwellers. Also, amble through the magnificent water gardens of the Generalife, the royal summer residence. Free time in afternoon before we return to our ship for dinner and overnight. Mass will be celebrated in Granada*, time permitting. Otherwise, Mass will be celebrated onboard. Overnight: Cruise Ship (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 9
Cartagena
Travel to Murcia, the capital of the province, a bustling city with the charm of a small town. Settled by the Moors in the 9th century and conquered by the Christians in the 13th century, this bustling city offers an array of architectural delights. Stop at the Monastery of the Virgin of Fuensanta and enjoy a panoramic view of the Murcian orchards, one of the most productive in the Mediterranean. Stop at Cathedral Square, where you’ll see the beautiful Baroque style facade of the cathedral, next to the Episcopal Palace. Visit the Royal Casino of Murcia dating from 1847, it is one of the most historic buildings. Although this is still an active private club, the ground floor is open to the public. After a period of decline in the second half of the 20th century, the building was completely refurbished and many of the rooms were restored to their original splendor. You’ll also pass through the Squares of Santo Domingo and Romeo and enjoy some free time for a stroll on your own or shopping. Overnight: Cruise Ship (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 10
Barcelona
This morning we head to the most famous Holy family church, La Sagrada Familia. La Sagrada Familia is an unfinished Catholic basilica in Barcelona designed by the celebrated Art Nouveau architect Antoni Gaudi. We enjoy a full guided tour of the Basilica before we celebrate Mass. We will then journey towards the Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for a tour before we head to Park Guell for a guided tour and free time before we return to our cruise ship for dinner and overnight. DAY 11
Cannes
First, we head to Monaco and Monte Carlo. By motor coach, you will drive along the famous Formula 1 track. You will visit the Monte Carlo casino and can enjoy an optional walk around the Japanese Garden. There will also be some free time during which you can see the changing of the guard in front of the palace of the Prince, take pictures, or buy souvenirs. Next, we head to Eze. Take a stroll through the old town with your guide. This old village is huddled around a substantial medieval fortress, with rocks and houses of similar hues blending into each other. Afterwards, your guide will take you to the Fragonard perfume factory near the town of Eze. Your guide will then take you to Cannes. We drive along the world-famous Boulevard de la Croisette. The guide will tell you the fascinating story of Cannes and the Lerins Islands which are located offshore. Since 1834, a whole host of famous personalities have helped to establish the city’s reputation. In the past, the aristocracy would spend the winter here. There will also be some free time during which you can see the Film Festival Palace, take pictures of the famous red road or buy souvenirs. The last stop of your trip is the top of Cannes hill near one of the oldest churches, Notre-Dame-de l’Esperance de Cannes where you will be able to take a memorable photo with the view of the entire bay of Cannes. DAY 12
Florence Pisa
This morning we discover the wonders of Florence, ‘City of Art.’ We visit the Academy of Fine Arts to view Renaissance masterpieces, including Michelangelo’s ‘David.’ We explore the wonderful Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo), the Baptistry, Piazza della Signoria, and Santa Croce, housing Michelangelo’s tomb. Overnight: Cruise Ship (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 13
Rome
After an early disembarkation, we immediately begin our first full day in Rome, including visits to three of the four major Basilicas. We begin with a visit to St. Paul Outside the Walls, which houses the remains of St. Paul under its main altar. Continue to St. John Lateran. This Basilica was the residence of the popes prior to returning to Rome in 1377. Next, we will see the Holy Stairs and the Basilica of St. Mary Major, one of the oldest shrines dedicated to the Blessed Virgin, which contains a relic from the manger of infant Jesus. Continue to our hotel for dinner and overnight. Overnight: Rome (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 14
Rome
Today we head to St. Peter’s Square where we will attend the Angelus delivered by the Pope. Following this, we enjoy a guided tour of St. Peter’s Basilica. Remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to explore the enchanting streets of Rome on our final night of pilgrimage. Overnight: Rome (Breakfast, Dinner)
